“I made it to America” – Jack Georges’ American Dream

June 30, 2014 1 min read 6 Comments

The American Dream was born on the 4th of July, 1776 with the Declaration of Independence. Since then, it has been in the hearts and minds of millions of Americans and people around the world. When Jack Georges recalls his escape from a civil war, alone on a small boat, he confides, “I was one of those lucky ones... I made it to America.”

When he arrived here in 1976, he was motivated by the spirit of the American dream. With his back against the wall and little money, he worked hard, driven to make his American Dream come true. Against all odds, he started his company in the midst of the economic crash of 1987.

Watch this short video interview to get a sense of the man behind the brand, how his company was built, and why he was so committed to maintaining his factory and headquarters in the USA when everyone in the industry had completely abandoned U.S. production.

On behalf of everyone at Jack Georges, have a wonderful 4th of July and please, live your American Dream!

What a great story or survival, vision and success. I purchased a bag for travel out west and through the Canadian Rockies. The bag is perfect for all of the items used for travel. It is soft and luxurious.
Thank you

After owning at least 8 handbags and a wallet that I had for years, that I sent it back for stitching and you replaced it, and seeing the history, I feel honoured that I own pieces from you. You are so humble and loyalty reflects in your story.
I hope you continue to be a success and I hope our paths cross one day. I am a woman with ideas and you are a man designing for us (laugh). While I love your bags, we are never satisfied and I am always saying I wish I could add this or change that. Nothing but the best for you and your employees and thank you for Made in America.
